JesusFreak

This is the album cover for my hypothetical band - JesusFreak.

My role in JesusFreak would be to write the band's witty and incisive lyrics about wtf? aspects of organised religion. I would also play the saxophone, answer fan email... and drink far too much lemon iced tea before, during and after our concerts.

out now...in my imaginary world of rock stardom

Thanks to rice for permitting me to use this photo. For the full pic or to view more of rice's awesome collection follow this link.

ps. yes I cheated a little by cropping the photo. Even hypothetically, album covers would probably not be rectangular in shape.

Album Cover

This is a facebook craze that I actually like. Follow the instructions below to create a hypothetical album cover for your hypothetical future band. I have seen a few of these now that have come out brilliantly!

1. Go to "wikipedia." Hit “random”
or click http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Random
The first random wikipedia article you get is the name of your band.

2. Go to "Random quotations"
or click http://www.quotationspage.com/random.php3
The last four or five words of the very last quote of the page is the title of your first album.

3. Go to flickr and click on “explore the last seven days”
or click http://www.flickr.com/explore/interesting/7days
Third picture, no matter what it is, will be your album cover.

4. Use Photoshop (or similar) to put it all together.

5. Post it to Facebook as a note and tag the friends you want to join in.

Maple Pecan Plait

My latest food fixation belongs to the lesser known Sixth Essential Food Group (Pastries) :

The Maple Pecan Plait

Scarily, the best ones I have unearthed in Perth come from BP's Wild Bean Cafes. What is it with those evil multinational oil companies and their near perfect maple pecan pastry oligopoly?

Pleonasm

Merriam Webster's word of the day:
pleonasm - noun - a redundent word or use of such to express an idea e.g.
yes, this is a true fact.

Negative

For over six months I have been wondering:
Will I be able to sell my business
within
the required time frame?
Today I got my definitive answer:Having considered this possibility,
I expected to be upset if it occurred.

But I didn't get upset. In fact it was a relief to finally know one way or another. The limbo of not knowing has actually been far worse than an outright NO. How bizarro!

Completion

Up until Monday evening, I had failed to finish any of the novels I have picked up since November. Depending on which way I look at it, this is:
a) progress
b) poor time management
c) poor book choice
d) a late onset of Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD ... or rather ADHD)

I am still undecided.

Today I am still basking in the glow of having finished Stern Men.

Star Wars Name

Krika, my Star Wars name is.

Out of all the formulas for distilling names (you know... your soap star name, porn star name, detective name etc) the Star Wars equation beats the lot of them. It even beats pirate names! Your Star Wars Name is the first 3 letters of your last name plus the first 2 letters of your first name.
A good one, you have got?
Comment for posterity, you may - keep a straight face while reading them, I am yet to.

Stern Men

I have barely made time for reading since November. This is one I have been dipping into since the beginning of January. The slow pace is calming, the characters are endearing, the lobsters are fascinating. I am over halfway through and still not sure where the story is going though... I like that too.

Friday

Did anyone else notice that it was Friday 13 today?

Pizza

Tonight I caught up with my two favourite pregnant people in Perth. It's funny how stuff like babies and having them (things I am not usually that interested in) become more interesting when discussed while eating pizza. That these things are particularly relevant to the people I was eating with may add a dimension of interesting too. Fetus, More-than-a-Fetus and friends are doing great!

The pizza was delicious!

Suburban Sunset

A sunset from my backyard in suburbia.

Not being able to see the horizon and all those pretty powerlines really add something to a susburban sunset.

Boiled Egg

My perfect egg: boiled just beyond goobers.
Accompanied by soldiers and a cup of tea.

Bromance

Ok the early rise was a small personal victory so these words almost got nudged over to tomorrow. Then I realised I don't have any rule against posting twice in one day.

Early Rise

This morning I got up at the crack of dawn and went for a walk. I haven't dragged my butt out of bed that early for at least a year: My life is structured around 9am sleep-ins for a reason. I love my sleep but this morning it was great to see an early morning for no other reason than I could!

Fan

Sure, air con may be a cooler...
dryer...
more effective...
alternative in this heat...

but I remain a resolute fan of the trusty fan.
