Glass Beach

I like the Tanzanian proverb poster doing the rounds this week:
Little by little,
a little becomes a lot.
This is true for the good and the bad.
Glass Beach, in California, became a big rubbish tip after a continuous tide of people dumped waste at the coastal site for almost 20 years. Over the following 30 years Nature gradually reclaimed her turf and, with a little help from humans at the shiny end, it is now a sparkling example of upcycling - not to mention a protected area of MacKerricher State Park.

Snorkel Souvenir

While snorkeling in Amed (East Bali) on my holiday, I broke the clip that keeps my snorkel and mask joined at the strap. We were visiting a shipwreck site, just off the beach... so of course there was a fellow with a small snorkel hire business just on the beach.

I asked how much to hire a mask and snorkel.
He asked me what was wrong with mine?
I showed him my broken clip.
He gave me this to replace it:

It's a makeshift snorkel clip from an old inner-tube.

In case you're wondering, it works like this:

Green Lights

Farewell Easter Break; back to work for me today. I was not entitled to the Bank Holiday that many were but I did benefit from said holiday's effect on Hobart's peak hour traffic - or rather our peak minutes (as the call goes for a city of only 500 000). Considering I also overslept by half an hour, I was smiling before I even got to work on time.

Beauty in Breakage

Two of my car windows were smashed by some blockhead who obviously took his job description too seriously. It wasn't a break in: The shattered glass was mostly intact and the car doors were still locked when I discovered the damage. Annoying.

As I was cleaning up the mess I couldn't help but admire how pretty auto glass looks in its broken state. I stopped to take a photo -

I am not usually so Pollyanna in these situations. But hey, there you have it!

Negative

For over six months I have been wondering:
Will I be able to sell my business
within
the required time frame?
Today I got my definitive answer:Having considered this possibility,
I expected to be upset if it occurred.

But I didn't get upset. In fact it was a relief to finally know one way or another. The limbo of not knowing has actually been far worse than an outright NO. How bizarro!
