Gallico's deceptively simple story, full of astute observations and humour, are just pure comfort reading. Mrs Harris with her indomitable courage, wonderful spirit and an incongruous desire for a Dior creation won my heart. I have lost two copies of this book through "loans" so far.

Is this the same Mrs Harris that Goes to Paris?
Yep, have you had the pleaure? (of reading it?)
Read? I saw the movie... It stars Angela Lansbury and it makes me want to cry... well almost cry... well it is really more touching than tear-enducing.
lol...of course. Gallico's Love of Seven Dolls was also made into a movie (Lili) with Leslie Caron. I loved that book too but it has a bit more dark with the light!
