Sheepskin Stubbycooler

There used to be two of these but Seven made short work of the other one.

In WA, it keeps the beer cold - in Tasmania, it keeps the hand warm. I am not happy that some poor sheep lost its skin to keep my beer chilled but I have had this cooler for 7 years now and won't go camping without it.

Noodle & Seven

Getting older but still puppy-ish.
Seven is stick obsessed.
Noodle wiles away hours chasing lizards that may or may not exist.

Sunset WA

This sunset was viewed in good company from a bit further north of Wedge Settlement, which is a bit further north of Lancelin, which is a bit further north of Perth, WA.

Gifting

What do you give somone who has everything?

Christmas Eve is the day to dust off one of my favourite books;
a book that has been gifted backwards and forwards many times at our house.

Patrick McDonnell's The Gift of Nothing gets thumbs up for:
  1. the book's message
  2. McDonnell's delightful cartoons
  3. the irony

Christmas Magnolia

Choosing an un-christmassy tree to be christmas-ised has an incongruous yet cheerful effect. Our sole concession to christmas paraphernalia is becoming something of a tradition: This year we chose the Port Wine Magnolia.

Cartoon Chickens

Doug Savage's chicken cartoons on Post-It Notes. Need I say more?
Well, perhaps one thing: Click on cartoon for more smile worthy Chickens.

I love this guy's cartoons - even the ones with programming/maths references that mostly go over my head.

Easter Poem

Quite often I find things in secondhand books. One time it was a couple of peacock feathers in an Atlas. Another time it was $140 in a 65 year old copy of Pride and Prejudice. That got a pretty big smile. The book I bought for $1 at an op shop.

Today it was this homemade card in an old copy of The Female Eunuch.

Rainbow Scarf

One of the few good things about winter.

Knitted by J, my rainbow scarf keeps the neck warm and (in theory) goes with absolutely everything!

The Dancing Man

Where the Hell is Matt? (2008) from Matthew Harding on Vimeo.

I watched this clip every day for a week because it made me smile. Of course, lots of things make me smile...even if they don't (or can't) dance. But it is easy to forget small things. So I am starting a collection - in case I find myself short of smiles on any given day.

Read more about Matt on his site. His earlier videos can also be viewed here.
